¿Puede una banda sonora transmitir más heroismo que BATMAN? Escúchala y tendrás ganas de salir a la calle a combatir el mal. Batman fue el trabajo que catapultó definitivamente a Danny Elfman dentro del mundo de la banda sonora, y además fue la mejor adaptación cinematográfica de este personaje del comic, de la mano de Tim Burton.

El álbum abre con el memorable The Batman Theme, mientras en la película se nos presenta la insignia del murciélago. El tema de Batman, completamente heroico y militarístico, será recurrente en toda la partitura, creciendo más y más hasta su máxima expresión al cierre del CD. El vals del Joker, Waltz to the Death, es una pieza tan sarcástica como el mismo personaje. El tema más singular: Descent to the Mystery, con la aparición de unos gloriosos coros que acompañan a Batman y Vicky en el tenebroso camino hacia la Bat-cueva. Up the Cathedral contiene pasajes con sonido de órgano para reforzar la excelente ambientación de la película.

Como curiosidad, un par de tracks incluyen Beautiful Dreamer, compuesta por Stephen Foster.
